Gujarat Titans (L) vs Mumbai Indians (R)
Gujarat Titans achieved an extraordinary final-ball victory to reach the IPL play-offs. They defeated Mumbai Indians in an Eliminator due to rain-affected conditions, beating Rahul Tewatia for four before Gerald Coetzee hit an astounding six in one over from Gerald Coetzee that ensured they would clinch an unlikely win.
Mumbai reached 177/6 before they quickly crumbled from 97-2 to 152-5 as Hardik Pandya took two wickets en route.
But rain came back and the target was reset back to 147 with 15 runs needed off three balls off the last over. Even Titans found this too daunting a task even as Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks fell quickly to Rashid Khan; nevertheless they made good use of this and went into their last over with an impressive nine run lead on Duckworth-Lewis-Stern.
Trent Boult made an immediate impactful statement on his first over, having Rutherford caught at midwicket to prevent him from scoring the match’s first maximum. But on his next delivery – slower still – Bairstow took advantage of offside position to hit it for six and end it with 12 runs off it!
Shubman Gill continues his run toward 2,500 IPL runs with a huge six off Krishna in the next over, as MI reach 192-3 with 11 balls remaining and Tilak Varma dropping Jos Buttler at 30.
Now they need another 88 runs from 60 balls for qualification into the play-offs; otherwise RCB will face them off against each other on June 1. If either side fails in Qualifier 2, their respective teams will return home without playing another match this season.

Match Prediction
Just a week ago, these sides seemed in control of their playoff prospects. Unfortunately, several losses have left both teetering on the brink – another loss could send either out entirely – so both will hope to avoid that fate on Friday when they meet at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur Chandigarh for the Indian Premier League Eliminator matchup.
Shubman Gill’s ten-wicket win for GT in Game 1 provided them with much-needed momentum, while Mumbai will hope Hardik Pandya’s six-wicket demolition of Delhi Capitals in Game 2 reignites their title bid.
Gujarat are set to use a fresh pitch in their match against Mumbai, providing fast bowlers from MI with an edge, but Gujarat have an equally potent line-up of spinners and pacers from which they could draw inspiration for this clash. Rashid Khan will target left-handed Mumbai batters while Prasidh Krishna exploits extra bounce for Gujarat to maintain genuine wicket-taking potential throughout their innings.
Jasprit Bumrah will likely decide the game. The New Zealand seamer boasts 17 wickets in 10 matches played since being signed for Mumbai in 2016, making his contribution critical in their hopes for victory.
He can be hit for many runs, but his ability to bowl long spells and frustrate batsmen with variations make him a formidable bowling option on the field. His aim will be to keep the ball low, breaking through batsmen’s defences while also producing some devastating late over shots.
However, his most crucial talent lies in his ability to quickly turn a match around. Often coming on when MI are already losing, and bowling a spell that flips the entire complexion of the contest in their favour.
Both teams feature several newcomers in their squads for this match; Jonny Bairstow and Richard Gleeson will make their MI debuts while Kusal Mendis joins GT XI – these three will replace Ryan Rickelton, Will Jacks, and Jos Buttler who are away on national duty duties respectively.
