Beginning as refugee camps in Pakistan during wartime refugee evacuations and flourishing among young Afghan refugees returning home after they settled, cricket quickly spread through refugee camps to become popular among youth when they returned home in 1995 when the Afghanistan Cricket Board joined the International Cricket Council as an affiliate member.
