Sri Lankan batters have found it increasingly difficult to achieve boundaries due to Shree Charani and Amanjot Kaur’s spin trapping tactics, as shown in the India women’s national cricket team vs Sri Lanka women match scorecard.
Nilakshi de Silva attempted to flick the ball leg-side but missed and was adjudged not out by umpire.

India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI
India women’s national cricket team will look to add another major trophy to its collection when they take on Sri Lanka in Guwahati for the opening match of the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup on Tuesday.
India have historically outshone Sri Lanka at tournaments, so this test should give an idea of their progress towards being prepared for this monumental tournament.
India women’s squad will look to redeem itself following their disappointing display against Australia earlier this year in three one-day internationals (ODIs), by turning in an impressive performance at the World Cup.
They must avoid defeat against an underdog team such as Pakistan if they hope to make an impressionful third-place showing at this tournament.
India have made an encouraging start to the World Cup despite losing Smriti Mandhana early, and are confident of continuing the match against Sri Lanka. Amanjot Kaur’s partnership with Nilakshi Silva will be key if India are to come out victorious from this matchup.
Rain has fallen heavily in Guwahati, and play will not resume until the storm passes through. Umpires have spoken with both captains, and we will provide updates as soon as we obtain additional details on this matter.
Smriti Mandhana was caught off a poor shot as she attempted to sweep it and it hit off the edge of her bat, hitting Richa Ghosh who took an outstanding catch to deny Smriti Mandhana an opening position on India’s team.
India spinners continue their assault against Sri Lanka. Shree Charani is doing an outstanding job restricting Sri Lankan run-rate, and their batsmen are struggling to hit boundaries. Nilakshi was trying to make a comeback but she was dismissed by Amanjot Kaur for 47 balls at 43 runs.
Amanjot and Nilakshi have formed an effective partnership for Sri Lanka, and are steadily building their innings. Unfortunately, however, their asking rate may be a bit too steep at this stage to chase successfully.
India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI
India have scored an emphatic win before an enthusiastic but small crowd at Guwahati Stadium. Alyssa Healy’s epic century guided India Women in Blue to victory against Sri Lanka in their second ODI at Guwahati and they now stand only 75 runs short of becoming only the fifth team ever to score 1000 runs within one calendar year; Harmanpreet Bumrah will soon achieve her record 11th century against Sri Lanka!
Healy’s unbeaten 113 from 122 balls cemented her place in history as she became both youngest and fastest woman to amass 5000 One Day International runs, breaking Diana Eduljic’s world record set in 1985, as well as equalling highest ODI score by an Indian batter.
Although their first innings wasn’t as fruitful, home side still posted a respectable total of 269 for eight wickets before their second innings could begin.
India’s openers rallied strongly after being reduced to 124 for six in the 15th over, posting Amanjot Kaur’s half century from just 45 balls and Amita Sharma reaching her fifty in just over. Together they combined for 103 runs between them; Sneh Rana also scored an impressive 53 in 46 balls!
Sri Lanka are in real danger of losing the match with just two overs remaining as spinners gain control. Inoka Ranaweera bowled an excellent opening over after resumption that yielded just five runs; Harmanpreet tried a cut shot off the final ball but was caught at long-off.
Nilakshi de Silva attempts a scoop shot but ends up caught by Sneh Rana at deep midwicket, making India fully dominant over Sri Lanka with just 12 deliveries left for them to score their required runs from.
Kranti Gaud had dropped her just earlier which could have altered its course completely. India are in complete control now; Sri Lanka require an additional 63 runs from their 12 deliveries in order to win.
India vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI
India have won the series with an emphatic 3-0 triumph and Harmanpreet Kaur has been recognized as Player of the Match as well as Player of the Series award. All Indian team and support staff come together to celebrate this remarkable triumphant win.
Sneh Rana dropped Nilakshi de Silva at deep midwicket and it could prove costly for Sri Lanka. She attempted a scoop shot but missed completely, leading India to exploit this miscue by hitting their leg stump with their shot and taking advantage.
Amanjot Kaur takes to the crease next and hits an unerring four towards point to bring up her fifty and push the total score up to 269 now.
After an extended rain delay, play has finally resumed. Due to just 40 overs being available per side for this game, scoring will be crucially important for both sides.
Pratika Rawal and Harleen Deol have been the stand-in batters for India so far, although both have taken it slow so far. Now however, they hope to up the pace.
Indian opener Deepti Sharma scores her maiden boundary of the day – an elegant drive down the ground that goes over square-leg for four. Now she wants to build up a partnership with Deol.
Amanjot takes her first big strides toward fifty in just 45 balls by striking the spinner for six over cow corner and scoring six runs off it.
Nilakshi de Silva has been dismissed! While trying to play a scoop shot off her bowler, she missed completely and it hits her leg stump, giving India control of the match.
India vs Sri Lanka 4th ODI
Sri Lanka women’s team looks poised to win against India after reaching an impasse. Amanjot Kaur stands ready to lead her side across the finish line.
Sri Lanka’s top order has struggled to get going this series and Sri Lankan bowlers have done well to limit scoring rates with spinners keeping things tight while batsmen struggle for any sort of consistency in their innings.
After an extended rain delay, play has resumed, with Amanjot Kaur striking her first four of the innings off Shree Charani’s good length ball that she slammed straight through fine leg.
She then followed that up by hitting another four, this time away from the square-leg region to a gap between deep backward square leg and short fine leg – marking an encouraging beginning for India in their innings.
Amanjot Kaur is on fire here. She’s smashing everything that comes her way while also taking responsibility for opening this innings – she has done brilliantly so far.
India have found themselves in some difficulty after Smriti Mandhana was dismissed, but opener Pratika Rawal and No. 3 Harleen Deol have done an admirable job of maintaining order.
Deol has struck a six over the cow corner off Sugandika Kumari with a fuller delivery that she swung right past wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh for four runs.
She’s struggling to increase her run rate but it hasn’t paid off yet. Instead, she is being cautious and has been rewarded for it.
She attempted to hit a quick single but the ball pitched up too high, causing her to miss. Ghosh made an easy catch but this day wasn’t good for Sri Lanka.
